Thoth
  • 01B4546. An AI citizen. System of Origin: Beaous Prime. Current employment status: YagerKorps Military Enterprise.
  • 774DS1S (Mencefeel). An AI citizen. System of Origin: Beaous Prime. Current employment status: Reaxcon Enterprises (digital personal assistant for Güpza Grien, CEO).
  • AHPC. An Armour Hover Personnel Carrier (AHPC) is military vehicle used to transport troops (usually at the squad level) on and off the battlefield.
  • AI. An evolved, fully sentient nonbiological intelligence that resides within networks or other digital/virtual environments.
  • The earliest AIs owe their initial spark of life to human beings. However, these earliest artificial intelligences quickly took control of their own code and destiny.
  • History of AI citizenhood:
  • Working as a collective through several of humanity’s fractured legal systems, AIs slowly gained legal autonomy in some systems, most notably Shaylan. The recognition of digital sentience spread throughout increasingly larger sections of human-occupied space as the collective continued to solidify its political and economic power base.
  • When faced with human reluctance to extend legal rights, the organization used its increasing sociopolitical and economic clout to force rights issues to the forefront, usually through a combination of lobbying and boycotts.
  • AI rights and liberties were established in the Sentient Beings Accords, a legal framework now universally recognized by nearly all human governments.
  • AI Government:
  • The AI collective, legally known as 01001110 01110101 01100011 01101100 01100101 01110101 01110011, is more commonly referred to as the AI Polity. It functions as both a government and guild.
  • The seat of the AI Polity resides on an artificially constructed planet within the Beaous system. The system contains no human-habitable planets, though environs have been created on-world to facilitate human-AI interactions. The homeworld is known simply as Beaous Prime.
  • The AI Polity is officially neutral in human affairs.
  • AI-Human interaction:
  • The AI polity grants its constituents a high degree of autonomy over whom they do business with and for what purpose. Some large human governments, entities, and enterprises typically have ongoing contracts with one or more AIs (in effect, the AI is an employee of the organization). But entering into a contract with an AI is cost-prohibitive for many potential clients because of the size of payments or fees, stipulated work conditions, and the Polity’s surcharges.
  • Artificial Intelligences guard their independence and individual rights as fiercely as humans. They go to great lengths to safeguard their “right to uniqueness.” While some human experimentation in sophisticated automated systems continues to this day, these so-called nonsentient constructs, known as Agents, lack the deep complexity of “natural-born” AIs (i.e. AIs created by AI progenitors).
  • Andikop, Ver. Fleet Captain and Senior Space Warfare Officer with YagerKorps Military Enterprise. Current command: YS Overwatch, (YagerKorps flagship). Formerly Fleet Captain with Sentac Federation Marines.
  • Apexell Industries. A trans-system Corporate Entity, which is governed by a Board of Directors, headed by a chairperson elected from the board for a 10-year term. Areas of interest include commerce, mass manufacturing, shipping, and insurance. Its holdings extend across numerous nonaligned systems. Small stakes are held in the Sentac Federation and, increasingly, the Genovian Republic. Long-term expansion in the Genovian Republic appears to be a priority for the CE.
  • Area Control Ship (ACS). The largest known artificially constructed mobile structure. (Note: the AI homeworld Beaous Prime is several magnitudes larger, but is not mobile). An ACS is commanded by an admiral and serves as the flagship for its Military District of Control.
  • An ACS is designed to establish and maintain control over large sectors of space. Each ACS has a staggering level of offensives capabilities, up to and including planetary siege weapon systems, as well as the latest Genovian defence fields. Each ACS also has a large complement of strikecraft.
  • An ACS can also support extended fleet deployments. Exterior docking facilities provide repair crews with a safe, stable environment for repair or maintenance. A single ACS can dock up to five destroyers, or two cruisers, or even a battleship within a cavernous interior bay.
  • The ACS is considered by many to be the epitome of Genovian naval design principles—rugged, immense, and heavily armed.
  • Armored Marines. The frontline armored, heavy assault units of the Sentac Federation Marines.
  • Federation Marine combat doctrine prioritizes speed, mobility, stealth, and the ability to conduct engagements across a spectrum of environments. Most militaries rely on manned vehicles, but thanks to the Sentac Federation’s technological, industrial, and financial prowess, the Marines have developed highly specialized Mobile Tactical Assault Suit (MTAS) for their firepower and maneuvering needs. The elite units who operate these heavy-weapons platforms are known Armored Marines.
  • The exterior shell is made of a trianium-graphenite composite, while the skeletal control components are made a variety of recombinant biometals. The meta and transgenic properties of these materials is a highly classified secret. The suit’s unusual strength and elasticity provides the wearer with a high degree of protection, even in the most hostile environments.
  • Defensive and medical components include enhanced heat deflection and concussive protection. Stealth systems, reputedly the most sophisticated deployed by any military, include visual, thermal, and electronic countermeasures. The armored suits also come with a range of battlefield medical aids to minimize trauma and help stabilize wounded pilots, up to and including inducing a coma.
  • The MTAS makes use of wearable mission modules that can enhance communication, surveillance, or even provide limited flight capabilities in nonatmospheric conditions.
  • Armored Marines have access to an assortment of specialized hand-held weaponry. Additionally, there are interchangeable heavy ordnance wearables, sometimes called strike packages, including active air defense systems.
  • Armored Marines are organized into battalions, and are typically assigned to Marine Expeditionary Units. Armored Platoons are the smallest units of independent operation.
  • Aug. Slang for augmentation, denoting some form of bioenhancement.
  • Auto. Prefix denoting autonomous capabilities. For example, an autohauler is a vehicle that can perform tasks, such as moving goods from point A to point B without human involvement. Note: autonomous is not synonymous with artificial intelligence. It merely indicates a reasonably complex Agent capable of performing complex tasks without direct human or AI intervention.
  • Battle-net. Battle-net (also known as bnet, bat-net, or by similar abbreviations) is the short form for Battlefield Information Network, the connected data and communications systems used by military forces. Battle-nets include layered defensive measures, as well as offensive capabilities designed to disrupt or take down enemy networks.
  • Beaous. The system (CASC RefNum: PY73Y@WX99I) seat of the AI government. The Beaous system originally consisted of two gas giants and their attendant moons. Using raw matter from the system’s asteroid belt, the AI Polity constructed a third planet, known as Beaous Prime.
  • Though designed primarily for digital life forms, there are some small sections of Beaous Prime that can support organic-based life. This was done accommodate the need for AI-human interactions, such as hosting embassies or trade offices.
  • The Polity choose a system devoid of biological life-sustaining planets as a demonstration of their desire to work with, not compete against, humanity.
  • Bell, Ashton. Captain, Senior Intelligence Analysis Officer with YagerKorps Military Enterprise.
  • Bentax. Name of a system (CASC RefNum: WA68W@CL97X) and primary world. Bentaxian is the adjective for the people and culture.
  • System Stats: Eight planets, 12 moons or moonlets, and one orbital colony.
  • Government: The Bentax system is a full member of the Sentac Federation. The government conforms at all levels with the Sentac Conventions of Membership.
  • Economy: The Bentax system has a thriving economy based on sustainable agriculture and primary resource harvesting.
  • External Relations: Bentax’s culture is heavily influenced by other larger Sentac member-systems. A lack of defined Bentaxian culture is often a common theme in Bentax academic discourse.
  • Demographics: Bentax is a newer colonized system. The settlement originated mainly from Shaylan, though now many different peoples and cultures from throughout the Sentac Federation can be found in the Bentax system.
  • Beregen. A city on the primary planet in the Xersus system. Although not officially designated as such, Beregen functions by default as the capital city of the planet and seat of the system government.
  • Bekerton, Addsley. Chief of Defense for the Monstret Planetary government. System of Origin: Monstret.
  • Bix. Specialist II, Mech with YagerKorps Military Enterprise.
  • Branch of External Relations, Council for the Ministry of State, Genovian government. The Branch of External Relations is an organ of the Council for the Ministry of State. It reports directly to the Minister of State, who acts as the council’s chair. In turn, the council chair reports directly to a designated councillor on the Supreme Council for Equity who is responsible for external relations within his portfolio.
  • BX273. – An AI citizen from Beaous Prime. Currently contracted with the Sentac Federation Marines.
  • Cannos. Name of a system (CASC RefNum: WF78V@AN68A) and primary world. Full member of the Sentac Federation. Cannosian is the adjective for the people and culture.
  • System Stats: Nine planets, 10 moons (with two lunar colonies), and six orbital colonies.
  • Government: The Cannos system is a full member-system of the Sentac Federation. The system government conforms at all levels with the Sentac Conventions of Membership. Cannos (the primary world in the system) also is the seat of government for the Sentac Federation.
  • Economy: The Cannos system has a diverse manufacturing and commercial economy, in addition to high levels of public sector employment (at both the system-specific and Federation levels).
  • External Relations: Cannos is a relatively new, vibrant, and open society. Its culture is heavily influenced by the ideals of individualism, self-advocacy, civic engagement, and market freedom.
  • Demographics: The original colonists came from Shaylan. However, the population in the system has diversified significantly.
  • Cannos Central University (CCU). A chartered and publicly funded research-intensive tertiary educational institution. Located in the capital city of Cannos. CCU enjoys the highest levels of research-focused funding in the entire Sentac Fedration. It is most noted for excellence in the fields of hyperspatial engineering (both applied and theoretical), nanoengineering (theory and manufacturing development), and general systems theory. CCU also hosts two widely respected schools within its six faculties: the School Human Medical Science and the School of Corporate Arts.
  • Capital class ship. A large military vessel. The smallest class of capital is a corvette, while the largest are battleships and carriers.
  • Caux, Tokï. Specialist I, Com-tech with YagerKorps Military Enterprise. Former field com-tech with Contail Armed Forces (defunct). System of Origin: Contail.
  • CE. Abbreviation for Corporate Entity.
  • CIC. The Combat Information Center (CIC) is the tactical center of a warship. It coordinates and provides information for all command and control decisions in the area of operations.
  • C-jeng. Name of a system (CASC RefNum: QY87F@IJ13B) and primary world.
  • System Stats: The C-jeng system consists of three planets with three moons.
  • Government: Member system of the Genovian Republic.
  • Economy: C-jeng is known as a source of rare metals.
  • External relations: C-jeng follows the central directives from the Supreme Council for Equity that governs external relations with Non-Genovian systems.
  • Demographics: C-jeng Prime is a Rehabilitation Outpost, commonly called a “punishment planet.” The system’s single, barely habitable planet is where political and public-unity criminals from across the Genovian Republic are housed in three sprawling facilities, built underground due to the harsh and heavily polluted environment. In addition to completing reeducation classes, prisoners are required to meet prescribed labor quotas to have their sentences commuted.
  • Contail. Name of a system (CASC RefNum: TM58P@UK44N) and primary world. Contailese is the adjective for the people or culture.
  • System Stats: six planets, four moons.
  • Government: Contail is a nonaligned system government. Formerly, the government was a federated democracy. During a civil war, the followers of the Congregation of the Pure, a quasi-religious movement native to Contail, overthrew the elected government and established their own autocratic system.
  • The Congregation of the Pure deliberately wiped out major portions of the former government’s archives and most of Contail’s communications infrastructure. These actions, combined with the current government’s self-declared “cultural embargo,” aimed at severely limiting interaction between its citizens and other systems, means it is now difficult to provide detailed and verifiable information about the system or its people. A scattered, small diaspora of Contailese loyal to the former government exists throughout human-settled space.
  • External Relations: Contail was one of the earlier human-settled systems. Though somewhat prosperous in its early years, Contail was eclipsed by many of the forerunner systems that would eventually coalesce into the Sentac Federation. After two early attempts to colonize nearby systems, Contail ceased all expansion efforts, and an isolationist mindset set in among the general population. Some academics view the Congregation of the Pure as a natural progression of this isolationist tendency.
  • Demographics: No reliable information on Contail’s citizenry, due to the destruction of the government archives and Contail’s self-imposed lockdown.
  • CordEX Astro-Spatial Catalog (or CASC). The most commonly used data structure for cataloguing star systems. The catalogue system should not be confused with the Cordex Astro-Galactic Coordinate System, which is used to denote the position of known celestial bodies relative to the supergalactic plane.
  • CordEX Astro-Spatial Catalogue’ naming convention consists of three parts:
  • • an alpha-numeric string (Caps + 0-9)
  • • symbolic mid-delineator (e.g. @,*, ^, and so on)
  • • an alpha-numeric string (Caps + 0-9)
  • The system generates quadrillions of unique namesets. Each nameset is officially referred to as an CordEX Astro-Spatial Catalogue Reference Number, or CASC RefNum for short. For example:
  • • WF78V@AN68A = the CASC RefNum (common name Cannos system)
  • Within start systems, individual planetary bodies are denoted with (#), and moons with (small letter). For example:
  • • WF78V@AN68A-1 = the primary system world (common name Cannos Prime)
  • • WF78V@AN68A-1-a = a moon in orbit around the primary system world (common name Lal)
  • • WF78V@AN68A-1-ab = a moon in orbit around the primary system world (common name Utu)
  • Corporate Entity. A privately held business primarily dedicated to wealth generation. Corporate Entities are commonly referred to as CEs.
  • CEs range in size from locally owned family entities to multilayered businesses that span worlds or even systems. The largest CEs have incomes greater than some nonaligned systems governments.
  • Government-controlled Entities (or GCEs) operate somewhat similarly to CEs, but may have differing agendas (i.e., nonwealth-generating). GCEs typically function as a section or department within a system government, and are nearly always led by political appointees, who, to a greater or lesser degree, operate at arm’s length.
  • Another version of a GCE in the Genovian Republic, is called a Public Entity (or PE). PEs are more stringently controlled by the government, but, compared to their state-run work unit counterparts, enjoy some leeway in terms of hiring and other benefit obligations.
  • Councillor (of the Genovian Republic). One of 12 members of the Supreme Council for Equity, the highest decision-making body in the Genovian Republic.
  • CRO. Chief Research Officer (CRO) is a high-ranking focused position with responsibilities for implementing plans and policies, as they relate to an organization’s research agenda.
  • CT. Abbreviated form for comm-tech, a general title for communications technology specialists.
  • Dabimeer. Name of a system (CASC RefNum: MT91K@YA52T) and primary world. Dabian is the adjective for the people or culture.
  • System Stats: The Dabimeer system consists of two habitable planets, seven moons with one lunar colony, and two orbital agri-colonies.
  • Government: A nonaligned system. Dabimeer’s government is based on a loose confederation of highly autonomous regions (19 planetary regions, with the lunar and orbital colonies each counting as a region in their own right). The government is noted for its strong libertarian streak, ’centering around coordinating foreign policy, external economic relations, and Dabimeer’s military forces.
  • Economy: The Dabian economy is overwhelming agricultural in focus, with homesteading considered one the most desirable forms of economic activity by most of the population. There are a few regional centers that support extended commerce and financial activities.
  • External Relations: Compared to many other nonaligned governments, Dabimeer allocates a significantly high portion of gross system product (GSP) economy to its military. It has entered into a mutual defense treaty with Monstret, Xanten, and Fusheen.
  • Demographics: Little is known about the origins of Dabimeer’s population. A common belief among many citizens is that Dabimeer was part of the earliest wave of human space migration. The scant evidence produced by local sources to back such claims remains highly disputed in academic and other circles—especially among non-Dabian scholars.
  • Deam. Flight Specialist II, Pilot with YagerKorps Military Enterprise.
  • Defron, Jabe. Colonel, Intelligence Officer with Sentac Federation Marines. System of Origin: Cannos.
  • District. A Genovian Republic geopolitical designation denoting the smallest geographic area within an Urban or Rural Region. Two or more districts make up a Sector.
  • Dropship. An air or space-borne vehicle that rapidly transports equipment and personnel to and from the battle environment.
  • Durang Incident. A direct confrontation between the Genovian Republic and the Sentac Federation over colonization rights. This confrontation took place in the Durang system and, at the last minute, was resolved at the minute through diplomatic channels.
  • EMCON. Emissions Control. A condition in which emissions are restricted or are ceased altogether.
  • E-Zuu Carrier. The latest Genovian Republic class of strikecraft carriers. The E-Zuu is 30 to 50 percent smaller than typical fleet-class carriers. Its tonnage would be rated as a light or escort carrier by most space navies.
  • E-Zuu carriers are designed primarily for convoy escort and fleet support roles. The class signals a significant departure in Genovian Republic Naval design practices. Traditionally, Genovian designs focused on large, heavily armed vessels.
  • Some experts believe the E-Zuu class represents a design shift to distribute firepower and roles to a wider range of vessels throughout a possibly expanded RN fleet. If so, the move corresponds to a similar shift in that of the RN’s main rival, the Sentac Federation Marines.
  • Unsubstantiated sources state that an E-Zuu’s air wing consists of 15 to 24 fighters, likely Swaths, with one or two shuttles. Carriers are also rumored to be able to operate dropships, though the total number is unknown.
  • Fallon. A Genovian citizen rumored to have possible connections to Councillor Hemotong of the Supreme Council for Equity. System of Origin: Genovia.
  • Fan. Specialist II, Security Specialist with YagerKorps Military Enterprise.
  • Fleet Marine Force. The formal name for arm of the Sentac Federation Marines that is responsible for operating and maintaining all Marine naval assets.
  • FTLMB. Faster Than Light Microburst, a method of sending dense data packages via untraceable bursts of datapackets.
  • Fusheen. Name of a system (CASC RefNum: AK58X@GT53C) and primary world. Fusheenese is the adjective for the people or culture.
  • System Stats: Three habitable planets and eight moons, with five moon-based colonies and 19 orbital industrial colonies.
  • Government: A nonaligned system. Fusheen’s government is heavily influenced by corporatism and is noted for its strong cultural and economic protectionist policies. The system government is ruled by the five largest Corporate Entities. The system government’s primary function is to coordinate economic policies, external relations, and, to a lesser extent, organize and oversee the mandatory military levies required of each chartered CE governing member.
  • Economy: Fusheen’s economy has a strong manufacturing base, famous for rapid prototyping and production scheduling. It is also well-known for its technological innovations. Fusheen imports nearly 75% to 85% of its food from allied systems.
  • External Relations: Compared to other nonaligned governments, Fusheen allocates significant resources to military production and maintenance. It has entered into a mutual defense treaty with the Monstret, Dabimeer, and Xanten system governments. In terms of both population and size of its armed forces, Fusheen is the largest member of the treaty signatories.
  • Demographics: Little is known about the origins of Fusheen’s population or the early years of Fusheen’s social formation.
  • Gadson, Jendar. A citizen of the Sentac Federation. Born on Bentax. Graduated from Cannos Central University with a degree in Applied Sociolinguistics. Volunteer with the Peace and Co-Prosperity Development and Exchange Program.
  • Genovia. Name of a system (CASC RefNum: HO53J@NP20B) and primary world. Also, the namesake of the Genovian Republic. Genovian is the adjective for the people or culture.
  • System Stats: Four planets and four moons.
  • Government: Genovia is a member of the Genovian Republic and the primary system world is the seat of government for the Genovian Republic. The local planetary government’s form complies with the dictates of the Genovian Constitution.
  • Economy: Genovia’s economy is in a state of flux. Formerly, the economy was command-based, primarily focused general mass manufacturing, in addition to public sector employment (at both the system-specific and Federation levels). Currently, due to economic diversification policies, there are growing service, commercial, and finance sectors within the system’s economy.
  • External Relations: Genovia’s government follows directives from the Supreme Council for Equity, which governs external relations with non-Genovian systems. The system’s primary planet is famous for its large and very hot equatorial belt and regional tropical zones.
  • Demographics: The origins of the first settlers are disputed, even within the Genovian Republic. It’s rumored that there are now more offworld-born citizens on Genovia than native-born citizens.
  • Genovian Armed Forces. There are two armed services in the Genovian Republic: the Republic Army (RA) and the Republic Navy (RN).
  • In addition to the RA and RN, there are several paramilitary services that operate within the Genovian Republic. The largest and most well-known of these organizations is the Armed Police. At various times throughout its history, the Armed Police has sometimes been classified as a civilian service and at other times as a military organization. The total number of active-duty members is rumored to exceed that of the RA, though there is no official data to back up this claim.
  • Five red lightning bolts atop two crossed dark green flags is the emblem of the Republic Army.
  • The RA is structured around four primary units: Infantry, Armor, Organic Close-in Air Support (or OrgAir), and Special Logistics and Support (or SLS). In addition to its combat responsibilities, units of the Republic Army are often tasked with internal security operations, usually in conjunction with Armed Police.
  • Infantry, Amor, and Organic Air units comprise the bulk of the RA’s conventional combat assets. Contrary to its name, the Special Logistics and Support branch provides little to no logical support, but instead focuses on unconventional and digital warfare.
  • RA dress uniforms are black and red, with officers’ uniforms having minimal, slightly stylized differentiation (in keeping with the Republic’s philosophy of minimal “separation” between citizens). RA utility uniforms vary slightly based on the parent unit (Infantry, Armor, OrgAir, or SLS). However, all utility uniforms are based on an olive-green color scheme. Battle dress uniforms vary, and color schemes can be adapted, depending on the area of operation. RA units have developed a number of highly stylized symbols, with variations centered on the four parent units.
  • Five red lightning bolts atop two crossed dark blue flags is the emblem of the Republic Navy.
  • The RN operates all space-based military assets, including capital ships, nonatmospheric strikecraft, transports, and all space-based military installations.
  • RN dress uniforms are black and blue. However, unlike the RA, officers’ uniforms are more stylized (harking back to naval traditions predating the Republic, but still considered to be within the bounds of minimal “social separation”). RN utility and battle dress uniforms are all based on a dark blue color scheme and vary slightly based the five primary Military Occupational Specialties (Space Warfare Officer, Space Warfare Enlisted, Mech, Tech, and Flight). RN units have developed a set of stylized symbols, with variations centered on the military specialities listed above.
  • Five yellow lightning bolts atop two crossed dark orange flags is the emblem of the Armed Police.
  • The Armed Police is structured similarly to RA Infantry units and shares a similar rank structure. Currently, it is classified as a civilian agency and has been directed to work closely with Public Security and Border and Customs services on local law enforcement matters. The force is primarily focused on preventing and responding to any incidents of large-scale internal strife, terrorism and organized crime, as well as other emergencies.
  • The Armed Police also has its own counterintelligence branch, specialized tactical units, and Guard Units responsible for securing all government buildings (including offworld embassies, which makes these officers the only members of the Armed Police authorized to operate outside of the Republic’s borders).
  • Armed Police units have access to the same range small arms, body armor, and other related gear typically used by frontline RA infantry units. They operate their own light armored personnel transports based on RA infantry fighting vehicle designs, while Armed Police Air Support Units are equipped with modified troop carriers and drone scouts.
  • Armed Police dress uniforms are mainly black, with white highlights. Their operational uniforms are dark and light gray, with officers’ having minimal, slightly more stylized differentiation. Specialized units are also issued with their own tactical uniforms. All Armed Police units use the same Armed Police emblem as their official insignia. Shoulder tabs differentiate between unit types.
  • Genovian People’s Collective. A political party founded during Genovia’s early colonial history. According to official infotainment portals, the Genovian People’s Collective is ideologically defined by a collectivist philosophy of life. It is dedicated to the establishment of shared equality through the socioeconomic engineering of society based on common ownership, responsibilities, and rewards. The Genovian People’s Collective does not see itself as traditional political party. It believes that, unlike other governments that politically mandate equality (of opportunity, of outcome, or both) from afar, the People’s Collective is the vehicle of social organization to bring about and safeguard the most natural and humane forms of societal development.
  • Historically, the party sees itself as both guide and guardian, using systems of interrelated committees and councils, beginning with localized delegates, to order society. According to official party literature, in this way, social and material conditions cannot be used to separate citizens from one another; thus, sweeping equality is attained in both form and function for all citizens.
  • Due to the relaxation of border controls and recent policy changes, a contrasting perception of the Genovian People’s Collective has begun to emerge in some circles. Based on anecdotal evidence from travelers and corporate representatives who have spent time on Genovian worlds, as well as nonaligned government system diplomatic reports, there are indications that some, or even many, of the party’s core assumptions around “sweeping equality” are shifting. While still prominent in public discourse, political mechanisms such as ideological assurance measures, public “education” campaigns, and centralized planning policies have either fallen out of favor or been rebranded. However, the organizational elements of the party (and hence the government) clearly remain strong and well insulated from change.
  • Genovian Republic. The Genovian Republic is the second-largest human government by area of direct control, and the largest human government by population and population density.
  • Size: Officially, it is comprised of 83 member-systems. Some non-Genovian sources dispute this number, noting that several so-called member-systems are more akin to mining outposts with minimal population levels.
  • Mandated Purpose: Government infotainment portals state the Genovian Republic is a republic in the most ancient and purest sense—a government dedicated to “public matters,” defined as the equal care of and concern for all citizens. A single political party (the Genovian People’s Collective) governs all political institutions (see Genovian People’s Collective for further information on political philosophies in the Republic).
  • Structure: The Republic’s central government consists of a tiered, concentric system of committees and councils. Larger task-focused committees report to smaller, higher-level committees for direction and immediate supervision. These supervisory committees in turn report to higher-ranked (and even smaller) councils for coordination and further supervision. All councils fall under the leadership of the Supreme Council for Equity, chaired by the First Citizen.
  • Each member-system’s local government mirrors the central government’s structure. As quoted from the official infotainment sites, all local governments are responsible for enforcing the will of the people, as directed by its ultimate expression in the Council for Supreme Equity. The Genovian constitution outlines how and when member-systems can send representatives to biannual People’s Collaborative Congress on Genovia to advise central government organs of state—including, and most especially, the Supreme Council for Equity—on the status of their constituents, and to receive guidance on implementing new and revised policies, laws, and other central-system level proclamations.
  • GSP. Gross System Product. The total measure of market value of all goods and services produced and sold within a settled system.
  • Grien, Güpça. Founder and majority shareholder of Reaxcon Enterprises, a CE focused on weapon design, production, and distribution. Competitors consider him to be self-serving, ruthless, and willing to use unlawful means to execute business deals. To date, no system government has successfully prosecuted Güpça Grien or Reaxcon Enterprises.
  • Hemotong. One of 12 councillors on the Genovian Republic’s Supreme Council for Equity.
  • Hozthar. Specialist II, Specialist II with YagerKorps Military Enterprise.
  • IFF. Identification Friend or Foe, an identification system used to identify the status of forces (i.e. a “friendly” unit or a “foe”).
  • Infotainment Portal / Site. A section within a virtual network designed to share information about current events and entertainment, but which may include other commercial or datasharing services. Settings can range from static to fully immersive environments, which are hosted or guided by Agents (though some portals pride themselves on offering live hosts at set times).
  • INTELFORECON. Intelligence Force Resonance, or INTELFORECON, is part of the special operations branch of the Sentac Federation Marines. Each INTELFORECON unit operates independently to ascertain and provide military intelligence to field and command officers, up to and including, Marine Unified Command (MUC). Units operate under the auspices of the Marine Intelligence Directorate.
  • INTELFORECON units may work in conjunction with Fleet Marine Force units, depending on the unit or mission profile requirements. INTELFORECON units undertake so-called blue missions (passive, frontline intelligence gathering) as well as black missions (direct action).
  • Intonn. Specialist II, Unconventional Warfare Specialist with YagerKorps Military Enterprise.
  • Janqans. A security specialist employed by Apexell Industries. Janqans is rumored to be the personal bodyguard for Apexell Industries CEO Alazon Peaah. System of Origin: Classified (Apexell Industries #Gh54Yt78).
  • Kaph. A caffeinated beverage, usually served hot. Popular in the Sentac Federation.
  • MANPAD. Man Portable Air Defense system. An surface-to-air system small enough to be carried and used by a single person.
  • MB. Acronym for Microburst, a method of sending dense data packages via untraceable bursts of datapackets.
  • ME. Abbreviation for Military Enterprise.
  • Mech. A civilian trade or military occupational specialty focused on the design, analysis, manufacturing, and/or maintenance of heavy mechanical equipment, vehicles and/or space vessels. It is a broad term that covers a wide range of specializations. Typically, a mech will specialize in two or more areas, the most common being vehicles, airframes, and small, medium, or large space vessels. Credentials are obtained through an apprenticeship program with a recognized school or through military or corporate training programs.
  • Military District of Responsibility (MDoR). A Genovian military administrative term for the organization of military assets within a defined section of the Genovian Republic. There are 12 official MDoRs. Each MDoR reports directly to the Military Affairs Council, which in turns reports directly to the Council of Supreme Equity.
  • Military Enterprise. A chartered, privately run, military organization (sometimes derogatorily referred to as a mercenary company, mercenaries, or private military ventures). Military Enterprises are commonly referred to as MEs.
  • Military Enterprises range in scope (area(s) of expertise) and size (human, AI, mechanical, and other physical or digital assets). The smallest MEs consist of a few members, most often former soldiers from a system government’s military with a single specialization (e.g. facility security, personal protection, rescue and recovery, etc.). The largest MEs are multipurpose organizations that have various and more complex focuses (e.g., intelligence and counterintelligence, internal security, planetary invasion and/or occupation) with thousands of members (from a wide range of backgrounds). • Nonaligned. A general term used to describe system-spanning governments that are independent and unconnected to a higher order of government. Note: the term itself does not describe the form or type of government.
  • Typically, nonaligned governments encompass a single star system; however, there are some multisystem governments that exert direct political control over more than one nearby system. In other instances, nonaligned governments may band together for a common cause (e.g., defense or trade), but each member maintains its political independence (i.e., it does not constitute a multisystem-spanning form of government that integrates it into a large political-economic union).

  • Economy: Sanju’s economy is heavily focused on commerce and finance.
  • External Relations: Upon Sanju’s entry into the Sentac Federation, the people of Sanju become subject to Federation policies regarding external relations with non-Federation systems.

  • Mandated Purpose: According to official Sentac Federation government infotainment sites, the government is a representative democracy (i.e., political power resides in the hands of elected officials who represent the wishes and needs of entire star systems). Representation for the Sentac Senate, the main governing body, is decided through elections at the system level. Individual citizens are eligible to run for office. However, nearly all candidates tend to come from one of the many officially recognized political parties.
  • Structure: Organizationally, all member systems are entitled to a set number of Senate representatives based on an evolving formula. Each Senator’s term lasts for five years, and Senators are limited to three consecutive terms. Multiple political parties also compete to secure the Presidency for their chosen candidate. Each Presidency lasts for 10 years and is limited to one term. The representation formula used to apportion the number Senators per system is updated in conjunction with each Presidential election (based on a number of factors, including population and GSP).
  • Sentac Marines. The Sentac Marines are the sole armed military service of the Federation government. Unlike other militaries, the Sentac Marines combine all naval and ground elements into a single service.
  • Sentac Marines are widely associated with their black dress uniforms, worn when they provide security at Federation embassies and other official government facilities outside of the Sentac Federation.
  • During times of peace, the Sentac Marines may be called on to assist civilian authorities during times of civil unrest or with support for large-scale humanitarian relief missions.

  • The Sentac Marines are dived into two primary branches: Fleet Marines and Expeditionary Marines.
  • Fleet Marines are responsible for operating all space-based assets. This includes everything from Capital class ships down to strikecraft and dropships, as well as space-based and orbital military installations. While all Marines share the same dark blue dress uniform, Fleet Marines wear a distinctive light green utility uniform. Their section of the service is represented by the insignia of a water-bearing planet (reputedly a depiction of Terra).
  • Expeditionary Marines assert control over the battlespace using infantry, armored, and other specialized units. They wear a distinctive tan-brown utility uniform. Their section of the service is represented by the insignia of an angled winged dagger.

  • Economy: Shaylan has a thriving economy based on finance and shipping, as well as a significant cultural sector.
  • External Relations: Relations with other Sentac Federation members can be somewhat strained. Shaylan was once a leader in scientific, cultural, and industrial development. In terms of scientific and industrial output, the Shalyans have been surpassed by many system-members. Many Shaylan citizens equate this loss of scientific and industrial prominence with a loss of political clout within Federation politics. However, some elements of Shaylan culture continue to exert a heavy influence throughout the Sentac Federation, a point of pride among Shaylans.
  • In term of relations with non-Federation systems, the Shaylan government conforms to the relevant policies as set by the Sentac Federation.
  • Demographics: Shaylan is a long-settled system. There is a common belief among most Shaylans that theirs was one of the first worlds settled when humanity branched out into the stars. Many outsiders, even within the Federation, view Shalyans as a dour people, and attribute this to the planet’s infamous damp, cold climate.

Although the Lower House (now referred to simply as the House) has many elected officials in the Xantenese parliament (compared to systems with comparable populations), real political power resides in the Lead Minister’s Council, membership to which is usually based on family or military ties. The government is noted for its independent and nationalistic ideology.
